Introduction
The A-body was a General Motors automobile platform introduced in 1964 for the 1965 model year. It was used for a variety of Chevrolet, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, and Buick models. The A-body was available in two-door and four-door sedan, two-door and four-door hardtop, and two-door convertible body styles.
The A-body was designed to be a compact and lightweight car, and it was initially used for Chevrolet’s entry-level models. However, the A-body was also used for a number of high-performance models, including the Chevrolet Chevelle SS, the Pontiac GTO, and the Oldsmobile Cutlass 442.
First Generation (1964-1967)
The first generation of the A-body was introduced in 1964 for the 1965 model year. The first generation A-body was available in two-door and four-door sedan, two-door and four-door hardtop, and two-door convertible body styles.
The first generation A-body was powered by a variety of six-cylinder and V8 engines. The base engine was a 194 cubic inch six-cylinder engine that produced 120 horsepower. The optional V8 engines included a 283 cubic inch V8 that produced 195 horsepower, a 327 cubic inch V8 that produced 250 horsepower, and a 396 cubic inch V8 that produced 325 horsepower.
The first generation A-body was a popular car, and it was produced for three model years. The first generation A-body was replaced by the second generation A-body in 1968.
Chevrolet Chevelle
The Chevrolet Chevelle was a mid-size car that was produced by Chevrolet from 1964 to 1977. The Chevelle was available in two-door and four-door sedan, two-door and four-door hardtop, and two-door convertible body styles.

The GTO was a popular car, and it was produced for 10 model years. The GTO was replaced by the Pontiac Firebird in 1975.
Oldsmobile Cutlass 442
