Body Care Exfoliating
What is Exfoliation?
Exfoliation is the process of removing dead skin cells from the surface of the skin. It can be done mechanically, with a physical exfoliator, or chemically, with a chemical exfoliator.
Physical exfoliators contain small, abrasive particles that physically scrub away dead skin cells. Chemical exfoliators contain acids that dissolve the bonds that hold dead skin cells together.
Benefits of Exfoliation
Exfoliation has many benefits for the skin, including:
- Removes dead skin cells
- Promotes cell turnover
- Improves skin texture
- Reduces the appearance of wrinkles
- Helps products penetrate the skin more effectively
How to Exfoliate
Exfoliation should be done 1-2 times per week. It is important to not over-exfoliate, as this can damage the skin.
To exfoliate, follow these steps:
- Wet your skin.
- Apply a small amount of exfoliator to your skin and massage it in circular motions.
- Rinse your skin thoroughly.
- Pat your skin dry.
Choosing an Exfoliator
There are many different exfoliators available on the market. When choosing an exfoliator, consider your skin type and the level of exfoliation you want.
If you have sensitive skin, choose a gentle exfoliator with small, round beads. If you have oily skin, choose a stronger exfoliator with larger, rougher beads.

When choosing an exfoliator, look for ingredients that will benefit your skin. Some good ingredients to look for include:
- Glycolic acid
- Salicylic acid
- Lactic acid
- Mandelic acid
