Safety Precautions

Before you begin, it’s important to take the following safety precautions:

2. Allow the engine to cool down for at least 30 minutes before checking the fluid level.

Tools and Materials

You will need the following tools and materials:

1. Clean rag or paper towels
2. Funnel
3. Transmission fluid (if needed)

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Locate the Transmission Dipstick

The transmission dipstick is usually located on the driver’s side of the engine compartment, near the firewall. It will have a red handle and a yellow or orange ring around the dipstick.

2. Pull Out and Wipe the Dipstick

Pull out the dipstick and wipe it clean with a rag or paper towel.

3. Reinsert and Remove the Dipstick

Reinsert the dipstick into the transmission fluid reservoir and then pull it out again.

4. Check the Fluid Level

The fluid level should be between the “FULL” and “ADD” marks on the dipstick. If the fluid level is low, you will need to add fluid.

5. Add Fluid (if needed)

If the fluid level is low, use a funnel to add fluid to the transmission fluid reservoir. Add fluid slowly and check the level frequently to avoid overfilling.

6. Reinsert the Dipstick

Once the fluid level is correct, reinsert the dipstick into the transmission fluid reservoir.
