What is Transmission Fluid?

Checking the Transmission Fluid Level

If the transmission fluid level is low, you will need to add more fluid. To add fluid, use a funnel to pour the fluid into the transmission dipstick tube. Add fluid until the level is between the “FULL” and “ADD” marks on the dipstick.
Changing the Transmission Fluid
Transmission fluid should be changed every 30,000 to 60,000 miles. To change the transmission fluid, you will need to drain the old fluid and replace it with new fluid. To drain the old fluid, remove the drain plug from the bottom of the transmission pan. Allow the fluid to drain into a drain pan. Once the fluid has drained, replace the drain plug and tighten it to the specified torque.
