How to Paint Carbon Fiber on RC Car Body
Materials:
- RC car body
- Carbon fiber paint
- Krylon Crystal Clear spray paint
- Masking tape
- Scissors
- Sandpaper
- Primer
Instructions:
1. Prepare the RC car body
Start by removing any dirt or debris from the RC car body. Then, lightly sand the surface of the body to create a smooth surface for the paint to adhere to. Be sure to wear a mask and gloves when sanding.
2. Apply primer
Once the RC car body is sanded, apply a thin coat of primer. Allow the primer to dry completely before proceeding to the next step.
3. Apply carbon fiber paint
Once the primer is dry, you can begin to apply the carbon fiber paint. Shake the can of paint well before using. Apply a thin coat of paint to the RC car body, using light, even strokes. Allow the first coat of paint to dry completely before applying a second coat.
4. Create the carbon fiber pattern
Once the second coat of paint is dry, you can begin to create the carbon fiber pattern. To do this, you will need to use masking tape. Start by tearing strips of masking tape into the desired length and width. Then, apply the masking tape to the RC car body in a random pattern. Be sure to overlap the pieces of masking tape slightly.
5. Spray the car body with clear coat
Once you are satisfied with the masking tape pattern, you can spray the RC car body with a clear coat. Be sure to apply several thin coats of clear coat, allowing each coat to dry completely before applying the next. This will help to protect the carbon fiber paint and give it a glossy finish.
6. Remove the masking tape
Once the clear coat is dry, you can remove the masking tape to reveal the carbon fiber pattern. Be careful not to pull the tape off too quickly, as this could damage the paint.
7. Enjoy your new carbon fiber RC car body!
Your RC car body is now complete. Enjoy the new look and feel of your car!
