Painting a Fiberglass Car Body
Materials
- Fiberglass car body
- Automotive primer
- Automotive paint
- Automotive clear coat
- Sandpaper (various grits)

Preparation
- Clean the fiberglass car body thoroughly with soap and water. Remove any dirt, grease, or oil.
- Sand the fiberglass car body with 180-grit sandpaper to create a smooth surface. Remove any dust from the sanding process with a tack cloth.
- Apply a coat of automotive primer to the fiberglass car body. Allow the primer to dry completely.
- Sand the primer with 220-grit sandpaper to smooth the surface. Remove any dust from the sanding process with a tack cloth.
Painting
- Apply a coat of automotive paint to the fiberglass car body. Allow the paint to dry completely.
- Sand the paint with 400-grit sandpaper to smooth the surface. Remove any dust from the sanding process with a tack cloth.
- Apply a coat of automotive clear coat to the fiberglass car body. Allow the clear coat to dry completely.
Tips
- Use a spray gun to apply the paint and clear coat for a smooth, even finish.
- Wear safety glasses and a dust mask when sanding and painting.
