Painting RC Car Bodies
Materials
- RC car body
- Sandpaper (various grits)
- Primer
- Paint
- Clear coat
- Masking tape
- Scissors
- Rags
Instructions
1. Prepare the body
- Remove all dirt and grease from the body using a mild detergent and water.
- Sand the body lightly with 100-grit sandpaper to remove any imperfections.
- Apply a thin coat of primer to the body and let it dry completely.
2. Paint the body
- Apply a thin coat of paint to the body. Let it dry completely.
- Apply a second coat of paint, if necessary.
- Let the paint dry completely.
3. Apply a clear coat
- Apply a thin coat of clear coat to the body. Let it dry completely.
- Apply a second coat of clear coat, if necessary.
- Let the clear coat dry completely.
4. Detail the body
- Mask off the areas of the body that you want to detail.
- Apply the detail paint to the body. Let it dry completely.
- Remove the masking tape.
5. Finish the body
- Apply a final coat of clear coat to the body. Let it dry completely.
- Your RC car body is now complete!
Tips
- Use a light touch when sanding the body. You don’t want to remove too much material.
- Apply thin coats of paint and clear coat. This will help to prevent runs and drips.
- Let the paint and clear coat dry completely before applying the next coat.
- Be patient and take your time. Painting an RC car body is a detailed process, but it’s worth it in the end.
