Remove Small Dents from Car Body
Materials You’ll Need
- Hairdryer
- Plunger
- Dry ice
- Dent repair kit
Methods
Hairdryer Method
- Clean the dent with a damp cloth.
- Hold the hairdryer about 6 inches away from the dent and turn it on the highest heat setting.
- Move the hairdryer back and forth over the dent for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
- Once the dent is warm, use a plunger to gently push out the dent.
Plunger Method
- Wet the plunger cup.
- Place the plunger cup over the dent.
- Pull back on the plunger handle to create suction.
- Gently pull the plunger up to remove the dent.
Dry Ice Method
- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Place a piece of dry ice on the dent.
- Hold the dry ice in place for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
- Once the dent is frozen, use a plunger to gently push out the dent.
Dent Repair Kit Method
- Follow the instructions that came with the dent repair kit.
- Most dent repair kits use a suction cup to pull out the dent.
- Some dent repair kits also use a heat gun to soften the metal and make it easier to remove the dent.
Tips
- Small dents are easier to remove than large dents.
- If the dent is deep, you may need to use a combination of methods to remove it.
