2. Purchase a bottle of Mercon V transmission fluid.
3. Open the hood and locate the transmission dipstick.
4. Remove the dipstick and insert the funnel into the dipstick tube.
5. Add transmission fluid until the fluid level is between the “FULL” and “ADD” marks on the dipstick.
6. Replace the dipstick.

When to Change Transmission Fluid

The transmission fluid in a 1999 Lincoln Town Car should be changed every 30,000 miles. However, if you drive in severe conditions, such as towing or driving in stop-and-go traffic, you may need to change the fluid more often.
