Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
Locate the transmission pan under the vehicle. It is a rectangular pan with a drain plug in the center.
Place the drain pan under the transmission pan.
Use the 13mm socket wrench to loosen the drain plug.
Allow the transmission fluid to drain into the drain pan.
Once the transmission fluid has drained, use the 17mm socket wrench to remove the transmission pan bolts.
Carefully remove the transmission pan and gasket.
Inspect the transmission pan and gasket for wear or damage. If either is damaged, replace it.
Install the new transmission filter into the transmission pan.
Install the new transmission pan gasket onto the transmission pan.
Position the transmission pan on the transmission and tighten the bolts using the 17mm socket wrench.
Tighten the drain plug using the 13mm socket wrench.
Add new transmission fluid to the transmission through the dipstick tube. Use the funnel to avoid spills.
Check the transmission fluid level using the dipstick. The fluid level should be between the “full” and “add” marks on the dipstick.
Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes.
Shift the transmission through all gears, pausing for a few seconds in each gear.
Check the transmission fluid level again. Add more fluid as needed.

Change the transmission fluid every 30,000 miles or as recommended by your vehicle’s manufacturer.
Use the correct type of transmission fluid specified in your vehicle’s owner’s manual.
Dispose of the old transmission fluid properly.
If you are not comfortable changing the transmission fluid yourself, you can take your vehicle to a mechanic.
