Exterior Body Parts
Hood
The hood is the hinged panel at the front of the car that covers the engine. It is also known as the bonnet.
Fenders
The fenders are the panels on the sides of the car that cover the wheels. They are also known as mudguards or wings.
Doors
The doors are the openings in the sides of the car that allow passengers to enter and exit. They are typically hinged on one side and open outwards.
Trunk Lid
The trunk lid is the hinged panel at the rear of the car that covers the trunk. It is also known as the boot lid or deck lid.
Roof
The roof is the panel that covers the top of the car and protects the passengers from the elements. It is typically made of metal or glass.
Grille
The grille is the opening in the front of the car that allows air to flow into the engine. It is typically made of plastic or metal.
Headlights
The headlights are the lights on the front of the car that illuminate the road ahead. They are typically turned on at night or in low-visibility conditions.
Taillights
The taillights are the lights on the rear of the car that indicate to other drivers that the car is stopping or turning. They are typically turned on at night or in low-visibility conditions.
Mirrors
The mirrors are used to see behind the car and to check blind spots. They are typically mounted on the doors or on the fenders.
Bumpers
The bumpers are the panels at the front and rear of the car that protect the car from damage in a collision. They are typically made of plastic or metal.
Interior Body Parts
Dashboard
The dashboard is the panel in front of the driver that contains the gauges, controls, and displays. It is also known as the instrument panel.
Steering Wheel
The steering wheel is the wheel that the driver uses to steer the car. It is typically mounted on a column that extends from the dashboard.
Seats
The seats are the cushions that the passengers sit on. They are typically made of fabric or leather.
Floor Mats
The floor mats are the carpets that cover the floor of the car. They help to protect the floor from dirt and wear.
Headliner
The headliner is the material that covers the ceiling of the car. It helps to insulate the car and to reduce noise.
Door Panels
The door panels are the panels that cover the inside of the doors. They typically contain the door handles, window controls, and speakers.
Console
The console is the panel that is located between the front seats. It typically contains the shifter, cup holders, and other controls.
