Club Car Precedent Transmission Removal
Tools and Materials Required
- Socket wrench set
- Wrench set
- Screwdriver set
- Hammer
- Punch
- Pry bar
- Transmission fluid
- New transmission filter
- New transmission gasket
Safety Precautions
- Park the Club Car on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
- Allow the transmission to cool before beginning work.
- Wear gloves and safety glasses.
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Remove the transmission cover
- Locate the transmission cover on the bottom of the Club Car.
- Remove the bolts that secure the cover.
- Lift the cover off the transmission.
2. Remove the transmission linkage
- Locate the transmission linkage on the side of the transmission.
- Disconnect the linkage from the transmission.
3. Remove the transmission dipstick
- Locate the transmission dipstick on the top of the transmission.
- Pull the dipstick out of the transmission.
4. Remove the transmission bolts
- Locate the transmission bolts on the bottom of the transmission.
- Remove the bolts.
5. Remove the transmission
- Carefully lift the transmission off the Club Car.
- Be sure to support the transmission with a jack or stand.
6. Replace the transmission filter
- Locate the transmission filter on the side of the transmission.
- Remove the bolts that secure the filter.
- Remove the old filter and replace it with a new one.
- Tighten the bolts.
7. Replace the transmission gasket
- Clean the mating surfaces of the transmission and the engine.
- Apply a new transmission gasket to the mating surface of the transmission.
- Place the transmission on the engine.
- Tighten the transmission bolts.
8. Reinstall the transmission linkage
- Connect the transmission linkage to the transmission.
9. Reinstall the transmission cover
- Place the transmission cover on the transmission.
- Tighten the bolts that secure the cover.
10. Reinstall the transmission dipstick
- Insert the transmission dipstick into the transmission.
11. Reconnect the negative battery terminal
- Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
Additional Tips
- It is important to replace the transmission filter and gasket whenever the transmission is removed.
- Be sure to use the correct type of transmission fluid for your Club Car.
- If you are not comfortable removing the transmission yourself, it is best to take the Club Car to a qualified mechanic.
