Dodge Dynasty Transmission Electrical Relay Energized with Car Off
Symptoms
- Transmission will not shift out of park.
- Transmission will not shift into gear.
- Transmission slips or hesitates.
- Check engine light is on.
Causes
- Faulty transmission electrical relay.
- Short in the wiring harness.
- Faulty transmission control module (TCM).
Diagnosis
1. Check the transmission fluid level. If the fluid is low, add fluid and check for leaks.
2. Inspect the wiring harness for any damage. If there is any damage, repair or replace the harness.
3. Test the transmission electrical relay. The relay should be energized when the key is in the “on” position and the transmission is in park. If the relay is not energized, replace the relay.
4. If the relay is energized and the wiring harness is undamaged, the TCM may be faulty. Replace the TCM.
