- Wheel chocks
- Wrench set
- Socket set
- Pry bar
- Hammer
- Safety glasses
- Gloves
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Safety First
Before you start, it’s important to take some safety precautions. Park your car on a level surface and engage the parking brake. Place wheel chocks behind the rear wheels to prevent the car from rolling.
2. Remove the Wheels
Using a wrench or socket set, loosen the lug nuts on all four wheels. Then, use a jack to raise the car and place jack stands under the frame. Remove the lug nuts completely and take off the wheels.
3. Disconnect the Battery
Locate the battery and disconnect the negative terminal. This will prevent any electrical shorts from occurring.
4. Remove the Body Mounts
The body mounts are the bolts that hold the body of the car to the frame. There are typically two or four body mounts on each side of the car. Use a wrench or socket set to remove the bolts.
5. Lift the Body Off the Frame
Once the body mounts are removed, you can use a floor jack to lift the body of the car off the frame. Be careful not to lift the body too high, as you don’t want to damage the body or the frame.
6. Disconnect the Remaining Hoses and Wires
Once the body is lifted off the frame, you will need to disconnect any remaining hoses and wires that are connected to the body. Be careful not to damage any of the hoses or wires.
7. Remove the Body
Once all of the hoses and wires are disconnected, you can remove the body from the frame. Be careful not to drop the body, as it can be heavy.
