94 Lincoln Town Car Transmission Fluid Change

Step 1: Gather your tools and materials.

You will need the following tools and materials to change the transmission fluid in your 94 Lincoln Town Car:

* New transmission fluid (Mercon V)
* Drain pan
* Funnel
* Rags
* Socket wrench or ratchet
* 1/2-inch socket
* 3/8-inch socket
* 10mm socket
* 13mm socket

Step 2: Safety first!

Before you begin working on your car, make sure to park it on a level surface and engage the parking brake. Allow the engine to cool down completely.

Step 3: Locate the drain plug.

The drain plug is located on the bottom of the transmission pan. It is a 17mm bolt.

Step 4: Place the drain pan under the transmission pan.

Make sure the drain pan is large enough to catch all of the fluid that will drain out of the transmission.

Step 5: Loosen the drain plug.

Use the 17mm socket to loosen the drain plug. Be careful not to drop the bolt into the drain pan.

Step 6: Allow the fluid to drain.

Allow all of the fluid to drain out of the transmission. This may take several minutes.

Step 7: Replace the drain plug.

Once all of the fluid has drained out, replace the drain plug and tighten it securely.

Step 8: Locate the fill plug.

The fill plug is located on the side of the transmission pan. It is a 10mm bolt.

Step 9: Remove the fill plug.

Use the 10mm socket to remove the fill plug.

Step 10: Insert the funnel into the fill hole.

Insert the funnel into the fill hole.

Step 11: Add new fluid.

Add new transmission fluid to the transmission until it begins to overflow out of the fill hole.

Step 12: Replace the fill plug.

Once the transmission is full, replace the fill plug and tighten it securely.

Step 13: Check the fluid level.

Start the engine and allow it to idle for a few minutes. Then, check the transmission fluid level. The fluid level should be between the “HOT” and “COLD” marks on the dipstick.

Step 14: Top off the fluid if necessary.

If the fluid level is low, add more fluid until it reaches the correct level.

Step 15: Reset the transmission fluid change interval.

Once the transmission fluid change is complete, you need to reset the transmission fluid change interval. To do this, turn the ignition key to the “ON” position, but do not start the engine. Then, press the gas pedal all the way down and hold it for 10 seconds. Release the gas pedal and turn the ignition key to the “OFF” position.
