How to Start a Manual Transmission Car
1. Find the Clutch Pedal
The clutch pedal is usually the leftmost pedal in the footwell. It is used to disengage the transmission from the engine, allowing you to shift gears.
2. Depress the Clutch Pedal
Fully depress the clutch pedal with your left foot. This will disengage the transmission from the engine.
3. Shift into First Gear
Move the gear shift lever to the left and up into first gear.
4. Release the Clutch Pedal Slowly
Slowly release the clutch pedal while simultaneously applying pressure to the gas pedal with your right foot. This will engage the transmission and start the car moving.
