How to Paint Plastic RC Car Bodies
Materials you will need:
- Plastic RC car body
- Primer
- Paint
- Clear coat
- Masking tape
- Sandpaper
- Tack cloth
- Spray gun or airbrush
- Gloves
- Respirator
Step 1: Prepare the body
- Remove any dirt or debris from the body with a damp cloth.
- Sand the body lightly with 220-grit sandpaper to create a smooth surface for the primer to adhere to.
- Wipe the body down with a tack cloth to remove any dust.
Step 2: Prime the body
- Apply a thin coat of primer to the body using a spray gun or airbrush.
- Allow the primer to dry completely.
- Sand the primer lightly with 400-grit sandpaper to smooth out any imperfections.
- Wipe the body down with a tack cloth to remove any dust.
Step 3: Paint the body
- Apply a thin coat of paint to the body using a spray gun or airbrush.
- Allow the paint to dry completely.
- Repeat steps 1 and 2 until you have achieved the desired color and finish.
Step 4: Clear coat the body
- Apply a thin coat of clear coat to the body using a spray gun or airbrush.
- Allow the clear coat to dry completely.
- Repeat steps 1 and 2 until you have achieved the desired gloss level.
Step 5: Finishing touches
- Remove any masking tape from the body.
- Allow the body to dry completely before handling.
- Enjoy your newly painted RC car body!
Tips
- Use a respirator and gloves when painting to protect yourself from harmful fumes.
- Test your paint and clear coat on a scrap piece of plastic before applying it to the body.
