How to Remove Tape from Car Body

Method 1: Use a Heat Gun

A heat gun is a great way to remove tape from a car body without damaging the paint. Simply hold the heat gun about 6 inches away from the tape and move it back and forth until the tape begins to soften. Once the tape is soft, you should be able to peel it off easily.

Method 2: Use a Hair Dryer

If you don’t have a heat gun, you can also use a hair dryer to remove tape from a car body. Simply hold the hair dryer on the highest heat setting and move it back and forth over the tape until it begins to soften. Once the tape is soft, you should be able to peel it off easily.

Method 3: Use a Citrus-Based Solvent

Citrus-based solvents are also effective at removing tape from a car body. Simply apply the solvent to a cloth and rub it over the tape until it begins to dissolve. Once the tape is dissolved, you should be able to wipe it off easily.

Method 4: Use a Goo Gone

Goo Gone is a commercial product that is specifically designed to remove tape from surfaces. Simply apply Goo Gone to the tape and let it sit for a few minutes. Once the tape has softened, you should be able to wipe it off easily.

Method 5: Use a WD-40

WD-40 is a multi-purpose lubricant that can also be used to remove tape from a car body. Simply spray WD-40 on the tape and let it sit for a few minutes. Once the tape has softened, you should be able to peel it off easily.

Tips for Removing Tape from a Car Body

  • Always test the method you plan to use on a small, inconspicuous area of the car body first.
  • Be careful not to use too much heat when using a heat gun or hair dryer, as this could damage the paint.
  • If you are using a citrus-based solvent, be sure to rinse the area thoroughly with water after you have removed the tape.
  • If you are using Goo Gone, be sure to follow the directions on the product label.
  • If you are using WD-40, be sure to wipe off any excess product after you have removed the tape.
