Painting Slot Car Bodies
Materials
- Slot car body
- Primer
- Paint
- Clear coat
- Masking tape
- Sandpaper
- Airbrush or spray gun
- Hobby knife
Preparation
- Remove any dirt or grease from the body with a mild detergent and water.
- Sand the body with fine-grit sandpaper to smooth out any imperfections.
- Apply a primer to the body and allow it to dry completely.
Painting
- Choose the paint color you want to use and apply it to the body using an airbrush or spray gun.
- Allow the paint to dry completely.
- Apply a clear coat to the body to protect the paint and give it a glossy finish.
Masking
- If you want to paint different colors on different parts of the body, you will need to use masking tape to cover the areas you don’t want to paint.
- Apply the masking tape carefully and make sure there are no gaps.
- Paint the exposed areas of the body and allow the paint to dry completely.
- Remove the masking tape and you will have a multi-color paint job.
Decals
- If you want to add decals to the body, you will need to apply them after the paint has dried completely.
- Cut the decals out of the sheet and soak them in water for a few minutes.
- Apply the decals to the body and smooth them out with a soft cloth.
- Allow the decals to dry completely and then apply a clear coat to protect them.
