How to Remove a Decal from a Car Body
Materials You’ll Need
- Heat gun or hair dryer
- Plastic scraper or credit card
- Goo Gone or other adhesive remover
- Clean rags
Steps
- Heat the decal. Using a heat gun or hair dryer, heat the decal until it becomes pliable. This will help loosen the adhesive and make it easier to remove.
- Peel off the decal. Once the decal is heated, use a plastic scraper or credit card to carefully peel it off the car body. Be careful not to scratch the paint.
- Remove any remaining adhesive. If there is any remaining adhesive on the car body, use Goo Gone or another adhesive remover to dissolve it. Apply the adhesive remover to a clean rag and rub it over the area until the adhesive is removed.
- Wash and wax the car. Once the decal and adhesive are removed, wash and wax the car to restore its shine.
Tips
- If the decal is particularly stubborn, you may need to use a stronger adhesive remover. However, be careful not to damage the paint.
- If you are removing a large decal, you may want to cut it into smaller pieces before peeling it off. This will make it easier to handle.
- Be patient and take your time. Removing a decal can be a time-consuming process, but it is important to do it carefully to avoid damaging the car.
