When to Change Your Smart Car’s Transmission Fluid

What Type of Transmission Fluid to Use

How to Change Your Smart Car’s Transmission Fluid

To change your Smart Car’s transmission fluid, you will need the following tools and materials:

* New transmission fluid
* Drain pan
* Funnel
* Rags
* Wrench

1. Park your Smart Car on a level surface.
2. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.
3. Open the hood and locate the transmission fluid dipstick.
4. Pull out the dipstick and wipe it clean with a rag.
5. Reinsert the dipstick and pull it out again to check the fluid level. The fluid level should be between the “full” and “low” marks on the dipstick.
6. If the fluid level is low, add new transmission fluid until it reaches the “full” mark on the dipstick.
7. Replace the dipstick.
8. Locate the transmission fluid drain plug. The drain plug is usually located on the bottom of the transmission pan.
9. Place the drain pan under the drain plug.
10. Use a wrench to loosen the drain plug.
11. Allow the transmission fluid to drain into the drain pan.
12. Once the transmission fluid has drained, replace the drain plug.
13. Locate the transmission fluid filler plug. The filler plug is usually located on the side of the transmission pan.
14. Remove the filler plug.
15. Insert the funnel into the filler hole.
16. Add new transmission fluid until it reaches the “full” mark on the dipstick.
17. Replace the filler plug.
18. Start the engine and allow it to idle for a few minutes.
19. Shift through all of the gears and then check the transmission fluid level again. The fluid level should be between the “full” and “low” marks on the dipstick.
